Wesleyan University Center for the Humanities records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a series of alphabetical subject files relating to center operations, including themes, lecture series, visiting scholars, planning, correspondence, and conferences. Notable correspondents include Michel Foucault, Walter Ong, Richard Rorty, and Mark Strand. A complete file list for this portion of the collection, which follows below, was prepared by Brenda Keating of the Center and accompanied the transfer of records to the University Archives. Also included are separate series related to specific fellowships administered by the Center and one collection of files relating to foundations and other grantmaking bodies. This collection does not contain much information on individual fellows. According to a conversation with the Center director in 2002, Fellows’ files from the early 1970s to late 1990s were thrown out before they could be transferred to the Archives. The Center for Advanced Studies collection does include Fellows’ files from the 1960s, and the recent Fellow information is held by the Center itself.
