Biographical / Historical
Karl S. Van Dyke [class of 1916] joined the Physics department in 1921. During WWII, Van Dyke would assist the Defense department using his work on piezoelectricity. He retired in 1960.
Piezoelectricity is the electric charge that can accumlate within some solid materials such as crystals.
