Biographical / Historical

Jean Stafford (1915-1979) was a Pulitzer Prize winning writer of novels, short stories, non-fiction, and children's literature. She spent the 1964-1965 academic year as a resident fellow in the Center for Advanced Studies at Wesleyan University.

Most of Stafford's papers are located in the Jean Stafford Collection of the Norlin Library at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Forty-seven letters from Stafford to Lowell following their separation in August 1946 are in the Houghton Library, Harvard University.
