Vernet E. Eaton papers
Scope and Contents
The Vernet E. Eaton papers contain materials from Wesleyan Professor of Physics Vernet Eaton’s teaching career. The collection consists of the transcript of the speeches given on Vernet’s reception of the Oersted Award of excellence in physics instruction; scripts for several episodes of a “college TV course” on atomic age physics, in which Professor Eaton appeared; a manuscript on The Training of College Physics Laboratory Assistants with an essay by Eaton; and 2 copies of the textbook for Eaton’s basic physics laboratory course.

Biographical / Historical
Vernet E. Eaton joined the Wesleyan faculty in 1925. In 1946, he became the Foss Professor of Physics, a position he retained until his retirement in 1964. In 1954 Eaton was awarded the Oersted Medal for Teaching of Physics by the American Association of Physics Teachers.
