David B. Adams papers
Scope and Contents
Contents included in this collection are published papers and offprints from Adams's psychology scholarship, UNESCO writings, poetry, and two typescript novels (By What Means, 1964-65, and Peace, ca. 1968-69); records documenting his involvement in the drafting of the Seville Statement on Nonviolence and directing the UNESCO unit planning the International Year (2000) for the Culture of Peace; and complete lab notebooks documenting the experiments and projects of the Wesleyan Animal Laboratory (1970-1993). Items removed from this series and cataloged separately in Special Collections include complete runs of the AIM Newsletter/Modern Times (1966-1974), a New Haven-based community newspaper of the American Independent Movement in which Adams was involved. The papers' contents focus on community development, urban renewal issues, labor organizing, and are also notable for coverage of the Black Panther trials in New Haven and strikes at Yale. These titles are also available on microfilm in Olin. Also removed and housed separately are the collected documents and declarations (edited by Adams) of the International Year for the Culture of Peace (UNESCO, 2000) contained in 7 binders and attendant monographs.
