Biographical / Historical

George Percival Morrill was born in 1920 in Montclair, NJ. In 1938 he enrolled in Wesleyan and starred in football and track. During his years in Middletown he also served as editor of the student newspaper and literary magazine. A member of Phi Nu Theta, Morrill graduated in 1942 as class president and enlisted in the Merchant Marines. After World War II, he began to write short stories and later a novel that won him an MA Degree from Wesleyan. he wrote a number of other works along with the biography of John Emory Andrus. Morill passed away in 2015.

James Emory Andrus graduated Wesleyan in 1862. After leaving Wesleyan, Andrus became an investor and bussinessman. In 1904, he was elected as the representative of New York's 19th congressional district. He would serve in Congress from 1905 to 1913. Andrus passed away in 1934.
