The Sheldon Gaylord Kellogg Wesleyan journal contains a reproduction of Kellogg’s original 1877 journal. It opens with Kellogg’s reflection on the past year, and for the most part consists of detailed lists of the day’s academic chores as well as discussion about the various books and essays Kellogg reads and writes. Topics, coursework, and publications mentioned include but are not limited to the following: Darwinism, the North American Review, the International Review, psychology, astronomy, logic, physiology, zoology, Shakespeare, an election and various government affairs, The Faerie Queene, Pilgrim’s Progress, and Alexander Hamilton. Wesleyan people include Professor Van Vleck and Professor Rice.
