Scope and Contents

Middletown, 2008 This book was designed by Max Krafft at Wesleyan University in the fall semester of 2008; its right-hand pages feature a fragment of text taken from the second chapter of Time Regained, by Marcel Proust, from the translation by C.K. Scott Moncrieffas published in 1931, and are set in Century-a common newspaper font of the time-while facing pages feature a croissant recipe adapted from Mastering the Art of French Cooking, by Julia Child, which has been translated into pictograms of the designer's own original composition.
