Scope and Contents

Gollum is an excerpt from The Hobbit written by J. R. R. Tolkein. It was designed by Nicole C. Hendricken and printed on the press of awk006 underground. The text was set in Bembo 12 and freehand 28; the illustrations were cut from linoleum, then pressed with a spoon. Both the book and its designer owe a great deal to David Schorr. This is book number _ in an edition of 7.

This book has been designed, printed and bound by Alex Drexler at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Poem text is set in Palatino Medium, 9 point on 15. Reference tables are set in Palatino Bold and Palatino Italic, 8 point on 10. Design created using Adobe InDesign.
