Abstract Burton C. Hallowell received his undergraduate and masters degrees from Wesleyan, ('36 and '38). He served in the Army during WWII where he rose to the rank of Captain. After the war he was hired as full professor in the Economics department at Wesleyan beginning in 1946. He received his PhD in Economics from Princeton in 1949.
