Lorenzo Whiting Blood diary

Abstract The volume is a 131-page manuscript diary kept by Blood from May 17, 1835 to July 28, 1844. All entries are shorter than a full page, apart from a few exceptions. The diary begins with Blood describing his abusive childhood, and he then introduces himself as a freshman at Wesleyan University. James Oliver Longstreet's personal diary from the year 1856 covers the second semester of his junior year at Wesleyan, as well as the first semester of his senior year. Many events are recorded in the diary, including the 1856 presidential election and the founding of the Middletown chapter of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Longstreet also discusses his work as a teacher in North Guilford, Connecticut and North Branford, Connecticut.

The William P. Lyon papers consists of a photocopied journal, a partial transcript of the journal, two letters, and some biographical information.
